The impact of PE funding 2017-2018

We have been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award for the 3rd year running. This a government award given to schools who are engaging children in out of school sporting activities. We also received the TFL STARS Gold award. This award has been given to the school for all the activities organised, that inspire children to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling.

Thank you to Mr Sharp and Mrs Clemens for their hard work towards these awards.

We are proud to announce that we have been given another gold sporting award for participation in KS1. This has been given to Chalgrove for our commitment, engagement and delivery of physical activities during the 2016/2017 academic year.  As you know, we take part in many sporting competitions and this is the 2nd year we have be awarded this.

Well done to Mr Sharp for all his hard work.

The term is well under way now with clubs, games and events taking place. The boys had their first football game against All Saints this week.  They put up a good team performance and deserved a draw but unfortunately luck wasn’t with them and we lost 3 – 1.  We have also attended a Mini Boccia event at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre.  We have many more events within the borough planned so we look forward to the coming weeks.

Some children took part in a Cross Country event. A special well done to Nnenna for doing so well, even though she didn’t feel well. We have been holding swimming trials in preparation for the swimming gala.  There has also been a Yr6 Tag Rugby competition in which the children came second in their group.  Well done to everyone who has taken part.

Chalgrove children have been busy with football matches and a swimming gala in the last couple of weeks.  Mr Sharp was very proud of the children at the gala who improved on their times but were up against stiff competition.

Mr Sharp took a group of KS1 children to a multi-sports festival at the Allianz stadium.  For some it was their first experience of going to a sports event in the minibus and they really enjoyed their morning.

The girl’s football team are currently top of their league having won 4 games so far. They are now in the semi-finals of their cup competition.  Historically the girl’s football team have always done well and it appears their success continues.  Well done and good luck in the semi-final.

Year 3 have really enjoyed the fantastic opportunity to learn all about their bikes and gained cycling confidence from our vising experts this week.  We also have sessions coming up for Yr4, 5&6 over the next few weeks.

Thank you to Mrs Clemens for organising this brilliant course for our children.

Well done to all our children who took part in the Dance Festival at the Arts Depot last week.  Despite the event being postponed due to the snow, the children remained focused and put on a great performance.  Staff from Chalgrove were proud of them. Mr Sharp and Mr Emerson also decided to dress up as chimney sweeps to join in with the Mary Poppins fun.

Thank you to parents for supporting the event.

Thank you to all the staff and children who went to Grosvenor Hall in Ashford for their residential trip last week.  The children were a credit to our school with brilliant behaviour the entire week.  Staff were really impressed with their mature attitude and their willingness to have a go at all the activities.

Thankfully the weather was great so everyone had a good week.
