Working Together:

Home Learning

One of the ways we can work together is supporting your child with home learning in several ways:

Home Learning Record
The main focus for home learning initially is reading with your child. Please try to share a book with them every day or talk to them about what they are reading. The children’s home learning record is an opportunity for three-way communication between us, you, and your child, and will contain suggestions for activities you can do with them focused on the book they are reading.

Welcome Packs: Five Minute Learning
At the beginning of this year we are sending each child home with a wallet of suggestions and some resources for short activities that you can do with your child to support their progress. We will send more suggestions during the year. The first wallet is free, but there will be a charge for a replacement.

Whole School Projects
From time to time we will also be sending home a suggestion for a project that you can do with your child as part of our whole school learning.

Electronic Learning
Your child will be given a login password which will give them access to further electronic learning, including Mathletics, a personalized maths programme.

All of this home learning is an opportunity to reinforce what’s happening in school. We don’t want it to be laborious but an enjoyable time together, so if it becomes stressful, take a break. Also please don’t do it for them but with them!
