Learning

The school’s vision for Harold Court Primary School is:
  • All those involved in the development of the school should have the children’s interests foremost in their minds.
  • Children should work to their highest potential.
  • Children should learn high standards of behaviour by clear teaching and example.
  • Children should learn to respect and understand each other’s beliefs and cultures.
  • Children should be calm, reasonable and considerate in their relationships.
  • All staff should expect the highest standards of behaviour.
  • All staff, children, parents, governors and others linked to the school should treat each other with kindness and respect.
  • We should value each other and look for the strengths in others.
  • We should work co-operatively to make necessary changes and developments.
  • Learning should be positive and enjoyable.

The school is arranged in 11 classes:
  • Reception - 22 or 23 children in each class.
  • Years 1 and 2 - 30 children in each class. (Yr 1, Yr 1/2, Yr 2)
  • Years 3 and 4  - 30 children in each class. (Yr 3, Yr3/4, Yr 4)
  • Years 5 and 6 - 30 children in each class.   (Yr 5, Yr5/6, Yr 6)
By organising the school in this way we are able to have two small reception classes and give our new admission children a particularly good start. At present children born in the autumn term join the school full-time in the first week of term. Children born in the spring term begin school part time at the beginning of September and become full-time later in the month. Summer born children commence part time in September and gradually move to full time attendance.
