Pupil Premium Funding is in addition to the funding received in the main school budget. Schools receive funding based on the number of pupils who are eligible for free school meals (FSM). It is intended to address inequalities between children eligible for FSM and their peers, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

We were allocated £69,600 for the financial year (2012-13) and used the funds to support children’s learning through:

Increased adult learning support

Nurture groups

Intervention groups

Educational visits and experiences

Extra-curricular activities

This enabled us to start addressing any underlying inequalities. We have seen an improvement in pupils' attitude to learning and participation in additional activities to extend their learning, this will, in turn, begin to close the attainment gaps between these pupils and their peers.
